Snow Peak – Chinese Republic Period (1919-1948 AD) The alluring Snow Peak can easily be one of the most beautiful Chinese sword you ever encounter.  Created in the late 19th century and early 20th century,  with both Chinese and European aesthetics and features, it is a sword with understated harmony in its design. Snow Peak has smooth stainless steel fittings, beige vegan leather wrapped scabbard and authentic white ray skin wrapped handle. A distinctive central fuller run down the spine of the blade. Chinese Republic Period was a time when Martial Arts training gradually transitioned from battlefield applications to focus on the development of the practitioner. Many of the martial arts systems that we know of today came from this prolific period. Republican Period Jian inherit styling from Ming and Qing Jian while incorporate features of European swords such as ricasso and central fuller. They were generally a bit longer than Qing Jian and had a distinctive hilt design with a “Ace-of-Spades” hand guard and often with ray-skin wrapped handle for a good grip. Snow Peak is the embodiment of 2000 years of Jian evolution to a form that we are familiar with today. A perfect gift for someone who have a passion for swords. Hardness 54-55 HRC. Blade rebounds to true after bending, Cut bamboo with ease.Hand polish to smooth soft shine and sword sharp edge . Fittings Industrial grade precision cast stainless steel fittings. The hand guard is in the Republic Era classic “Ace  of Spade” shape.The pommel is a simplified classic cumulus cloud shape.Handle wrap in authentic white ray skin for better grip. The pommel is secured by threaded nuts instead of historical peening methods to enable self adjustment by the owner should the hilt expand and contract over seasonal temperature and humidity swings. Scabbard White wood wrapped with beige microfiber vegan leather, deck with stainless steel scabbard mounts.
